Happy New Year

The day after Thanksgiving
Our refrigerators are full of leftovers in a hodge podge of mismatched Coolwhip and Tupperware containers.
Our pants have seemingly shrunk overnight, and we find ourselves wondering if stretch waistband spirituality might be something that could catch on as a thing
We’ve had time to forgive problematic relatives for being themselves (and hope they’ve been able to do the same for us)
The dishwasher is on it’s thirteenth cycle, and we’ve just about maxed out our credit cards on the Black Friday sales when a quieter truth slowly creeps up on us
Another year is almost here
Our year. The Christian year.
Advent is calling to us.
Light the first candle. Star again.
Before the world revs up
for resolutions and gym memberships,
we get a head start.
We get to decide who we want to be
when hope breaks in
in the form of baby in a barn.
We get to ask:
What practice will ground me?
What weight can I finally set down?
What toxic thing can I stop carrying
so I can actually breathe again?
This is the sacred season
of holy do-overs
and quiet courage—
where even the smallest shift
makes room for the Christ-light
to find us in what can sometimes seem like overwhelming darkness.
Advent—and a new year is upon us
Take a step toward the you
God is already inviting into becoming
Ready or not
it’s time to begin again.
If you have The Doubting Believer's Guide to a Faith-Filled 2026, now is the time to get it out and start to plan for Advent--especially your 1 2 3 plan. If you didn't get a spiral bound book, you can still download a digital copy.
